Error Number 12

Post by Ben »

I was using the Registry Optimization mode a few days ago on my HP and got the following errors:
1)RegReplaceKey: Access is denied
2)The operation was stopped due to an error. Error number: 12

I hit the "close" button, and the computer rebooted as normal.

I am running Reg Organizer v.4.25

I recently bought/installed Bit Defender Internet Security 2010 v.13

I am using an HP Pavilion dv9700 Notebook that is running Vista Home Premium SP 2 Build 6002.

You need to disable any antivirus software when performing the registry optimization. In some cases it is not possible to complete disable such software without uninstalling it. In this case it is not possible to use the optimization feature of Reg Organizer. Please make sure your antivirus software is disabled.

Thank you very much. Bitdefender was indeed the problem. I need to disable all Bitdefender services from the boot to be able to run the registry optimization mode. Well, maybe not all, but I do anyways; Bitdefender has been nothing more than a nuisance since I installed it last month.
