Autorun Organizer: tray icon does not always appear

Hello,

About 1 out of 10 times, when the system boots up (from full shutdown, Windows Fast Boot/Startup is permanently disabled), the AO tray icon will not appear. The program starts in the background and functions properly otherwise.

To make the icon reappear, I launch AO via Start Menu and then close its window. The tray icon now appears.

Background Functions are enabled (except "Measure...").

AO 5.46 (also occurred in previous versions), Windows 10 x64

Hello,

Please make sure that the icon was not moved by the system to the area of hidden icons under the arrow in the Windows tray, as shown in the screenshot.

Thanks, but that's not the problem. I have "Always show all icons in the notification area" enabled permanently. There's no arrow, or hidden icons.

Then it seems like an error in Autorun Organizer, due to which the icon is not being created for some reason. If you have any ideas on how to reproduce this on an arbitrary system, let me know.

I really don't know, unfortunately. It just seems random. As mentioned, about 1 out of 10 - perhaps even less frequently.

We don't understand the problem yet. We will try to reproduce it...

I do have SysTray Refresh installed. Their older 1.0 version, which was free. It's a handy tool that runs in the background, to automatically remove "dead" icons from the tray.

However, I don't see how that may interfere because:

a) I've set it to start with a delay of 140 seconds. AO loads much sooner.
b) The AO tray icon is not a "dead" one.

Given what you've said, the installation of this program probably doesn't matter. Unless it operates through a service or driver that starts up immediately when the system boots and affects the described issue.

There's no service, it's only a process that runs in the background. No driver either.

Assuming however that it is the one behind this, then perhaps there's a random, split moment where the AO tray icon might be considered dead/orphaned for some reason?

I did notice the tray icon goes away when the AO UI is opened, and re-appears when closed (=minimised). I assume this is by design though. It also occurs without SysTrayRefresh.exe running in the background.

Perhaps it's related to the random errors I'm getting with AO sometimes (below)? They now keep appearing when I type into the Find bar (I was searching for a possible SysTrayRefresh driver).

Yes, this could be related. Do these error messages occur consistently? In other words, can they be easily reproduced?
